Yikes.  :o :o  :D :D.  Mine was nothing like that. Lawn mower nothing, that's for the Paleo Grim Reaper.

Sorry for your loss, but hey, three really big points might come of it.   ;)

Otoe.
So far, I haven't found any Osage or knappable rock over here.  Embrace the suck

Brian, if you're talking about the stuff in this pic, the red/yellow/black rock looks like Horse Creek Chert from Tennessee. Great stuff.

From what I've heard, it only comes from one little area on the TN-Mississippi border. I bought some from a guy at the Clinch River knap-in last year. I had a bunch of it in a plastic bag in the yard, and the neighbor's big goofy damn Irish setter carried it off and I never did find it.  >:(  I got to make one point out of the whole batch.  :'(

Looking at it, it seemed like it would be pretty tough. It was kind of grainy. The guy that chipped them is named Brad Harrison in Savannah, Tenn. His phone is 731-926-0642. From what the guy who had all the points said, this is the only material this guy knaps.

It chips pretty good, about like Burlington or other coarse-grained chert.

Hi Eddie,

As you know by now I'm new to this. I s that James Haislop I see in one of these pics? He's been kind enough to let me shoot with him during the week.

Dang, is that from last year, or recently?  If so, I wish I would have known that was going on, I would have gone up to it!  Do you know where Claude is living now?  An Address?  When I get back out to Montana next month, I would like to mail him some of the clay at my place, and see what he thinks of it.  How is he doing?  Was Roger there?  I thought I saw him in one of the pictures, of the ZZ top gang.  When is Pappy coming down for the gator shoot?
