Joe York asked me to post these pics for him. These are what Joe has made for the raffle table at the Classic. Even though Joe won't be at the Classic this year he thought it only right that he would still help support Twin Oaks and the Tenn. Classic. Here is what Joe is sending and what he wrote about each item...
Made this medicine pipe for the raffle. The stem is from an 80 year old
mountain cedar (juniper) fence post. The bowl is catlanite and the bag is
from a moose I shot in the Yukon (most by far expensive hunt I have ever
been on)! The beard is from Shannon and the elk teeth are from a wolf kill.
This pipe means a lot to me and will be blessed by a Sioux medicine man!
This is a quite heavy version of the quiver I used to hunt horse back
on the ranch. The others did not always survive the rodeos, but were very a
very effective way to carry your arrows. This one is heavy and will
probably fit one of Pappy's man sized fellows. I really liked the fast and
quiet way you can get an arrow out and in. Not worth a darn if you need to
crawl and noisy in the brush. I used this kind of quiver when hunting elk on
the Oregon coast. Keeps the fletching dry! Joe
The picture is of a sling. I made two of them one for the 19th
Classic and one with some stone blades from my collection. Joe
This one is of the 19th
classic.
