Sanding and spine

Most of you may know this.Yesterday I was sanding(aggressively) a bamboo arrow to get the spine down a bit. I would sand and then spine it. I got it to the weight I wanted. Checked it again this morning and the spine was up 5#. Ever notice how warm your hand gets when you're sanding? The heat makes the arrow more flexible. Doesn't take much.

DC, instead of sanding, use a sharp blade, razor knife, and scrape it and then sand lightly.
