discussion of dimension of a laminated bow over 150lb

have anyone tried bows over 150lb before?
the most articles about bows with such poundage are based on mary rose bows which are from yew.
however, the modules of laminated materials such as BBI are higher than yew. thus the dimension of mary rose bow may not fit BBI or other combos. should anyone give me some successful cases?

 Bamboo/Ipe - 76 "long, 35х30mm in center and 13x13 in limbs has to work around this weight 140-150.
This is only 74"long 34x27 mm in the handle - boo / Iroko / Ipe and pulled 136#. for 30"

but a small question: when you laminate the strips, did you reflex them or just let them be straight?

I made this bow for a guy to shoot at the flight shoots in 2006.  It was a Bamboo backed Bubinga around 72" long.  I had tested the bow with my crappy scale at around 150# @ 30".  When he got it his scale said it pulled more like 165#.  It was a handful

i thought that a bow over 150lb could not be shorter than 190cm（76“）, or it would induce a lot of set. maybe i should change my opinion.

This was a long time ago and I don't remember all the details on the bow but it was about 1 1/4" wide.  I know I kept the Bamboo fairly thick as well.

The length of a bow has nothing to do with draw weight, only draw length.

The dimensions of a bow really have more to do with material than anything. A denser wood will need to be proportionately smaller. I currently have two 120# warbows. Both laminates. One is maple backed yew. The other is hickory backed ipe. Both are fully drawn to 32". The yew bow is 80" long, 1.5" wide X 1.25" deep at the grip tapering to 1/2" nocks. The ipe bow is 76" long, 1.25" wide X 1.125" deep tapering to 3/8" nocks. They both weigh roughly the same (the ipe bow is just a smidge heavier actually). In other words, design according to material.

thank you so much. that means a boo-backed bow should be more thinner. did you taper them straight or a little thicker at grip?
