Giant apple
« on: February 21, 2015, 11:39:58 am »
Is it just me or is this the biggest Honey Crisp apple you have ever seen? We have a mom and pop grocery store close to home. We stopped in yesterday for some party supplies and saw this beauty along with another 10 or so boxes of them. Really good flavor along with the big size. That is a 12 oz. Can of coke behind it. And it is in a sandwich size bad as well.

Jojo  we  have  several orchards  near  my hunting camp  that  grow honey crisp apples.  Every once in awhile we will find one that size.  Honey Crisp don't get  any better for eating.  Trouble is  the deer rely like them and the farmers had to fence in their orchards.

Little do the farmers know it was JEB doing the eating, and he knows how to get around a fence!

Honey crisps are mighty fine for eating out of hand.  As far as I am concerned, a red delicious is only half right....at least it is red.

My favorite is rarely ever seen in stores, simply because it just doesn't keep worth a dang.  30 days off the tree and a winesap apple is mush!  But a fresh one is amazing.

My favorite was Fuji, until I had a pink lady. They are my go to now.

Fuji and honey crisp are the best. Red delicious are only good for apple sauce.  Granny Smith apples are terrible.  Who eats those? Id just as soon eat a crab apple.
