Heat treating part of a Limb?

Any reason why heat treating say just the inner 1/3 of a limb is a bad idea. Obviously I'm fading out the heat gradually not masking of an abrupt line.
can't see why not, but just wondering If I was missing anything?

Del, do it, I' ve used heat- treating for tiller- or retillering often. Parts of limbs, one limb only........ It works well, but it needs some trials for getting a feeling of the time. My first trials had been a mix of heat- treating, scraping...........and so on.
Yes, avoid aprupt lines.

Absolutely no problem. I've done it a few times on Molle bows to stiffen up the lever fades.
