Straightening Feathers

Do any of you straighten your feathers? Some of mine have enough bend in the quill so they don't sit straight in the clamp to grind them. I've steamed a few of them and straightened them. It works much better. Is it causing any harm do you think?

Just grind down your quill a bit and everything's fine

I trim the quill with scissors before I grind them

Elwin, Just cut self nocks in the cane and add a sinew or thread wrap below it. That's how I make them and have for a long time.
DC, if the quill is thin enough the fletch should cooperate.
