What works best for writing on bows that have been stained a dark color such as walnut or ebony?

Don't want to hijack the thread, but I assume this is done on the sanded wood but before final finishing?

I've had luck with paint pens from the Hobby stores, in either Gold or Silver. Bob

I put down a couple of coats of Tru-Oil first. I then spray satin poly where the lettering goes and let that dry well before writing on it, let the ink dry then back to Tru-Oil over the whole bow for 4 or 5 more coats.
It you try to write on raw wood the ink will bleed into the wood so you don't get neat lettering.

My scale is just fine CODY WRIGHT! I simply don't use it past 15-16". However, your bow is right on and marked correctly. I knew you'd nit pick me if it was a measly 10# heavy!
