Hi all bow problem, not going back into position on a spot.

 So I am making a yew long bow, but one of my lims is not bending fully back like

 not as hard as that, but it is noticable, i haven't gotten to far on the tillering so should i do a rap around that spot? ooooorrrrr ?
 i have 2 more billets coming anyways so if i can't figure it out i will try to cut them in half and just restart for that limb.

 ps its a take down bow so not end of the world if can't be fixed

Are you saying its taking a lot of string follow. ?

It was straight and then you started working it, right? That's set, and it is an unavoidable but consealable consequence of bending wood. If you started with a straight stave then the set will be the same as the string follow, which is the distance by which the tips track toward the belly/string past the axis of the grip.

Thanks for the fast replies, i was at work though lol, here are some pics, not full strong yet and its when it goes back to flat, unstrong position that it loses some of its original position.

excuse my feet, they are size 13s lol so they get every where.

and the stave was cut some where about 2 years ago now, got it last Christmas and it was a year old back then.

That's just set and not even that much if it by the looks of it. It is nothing to be worried about, unless the bow takes way to much set and happens it to nearly all bows

That's a really weird shape...that will be hard to tiller correctly.
By the looks of it your inner limb is bending too much and you need to get the outer working more.
If one limb is taking more set than the other then it is weaker overall than the other limb. Remove wood from the strongest limb first to get them matched.

The sapwood is on the right hand side, correct? That weird sharp angle is a recurve then, I presume? I'm not quite sure what we're looking at and where the problem is exactly. It sounds like you're describing set or string follow (google those terms). I'm guessing you're not tillering carefully enough. At what stage does it occur? Before and after what? Shooting? Stringing? Tillering? I'd need to see more picture of the entire bow before I can make a diagnosis.
