straightening an elm bananna?
« on: August 13, 2014, 01:36:37 pm »
a friend wants an elb.  I have some elm that was cut from a bent log (sawn).  I think I could get the spliceable stave out of this but I'd need to straighten it.  I'm thinking cut it from the boards and then steam bend it.

Think this would work?

I'm at work most of the time now.  The elm is a mix of heart wood and sap wood.  Is that a problem?  I think I remember reading that elm is best for it's sap wood when it comes to bows.
