The only thing I can suggest is  some type of wedge to keep your log from moving around when you get it to the vertical posts while splitting. Other than that, it looks like it will do exactly what you want.

Tracy, I was thinking about getting two lengths of thick chain that I could put over the poles to keep it from rolling.  It has a slight downhill slope so it shouldn't want to roll to bad.
