Errrr, I think I maybe need to move it to the warbow section! >:D
I just struggled to shoot a few of my 11/32" shafted arrows and it rang like a bell, and the brace dropped about 1/4"
I twisted up the string and shot some of my 3/8" heavy weight 32" 763 grain arrows.
I got the right elbow high and came over and down warbow style but to anchor front of my chin, much easier and smoother.
Whoooomp... straight as ... well an arrow  ::) and it rocked the boss backwards. I think it's maybe as fast and hard as the 100# Elm warbow.
I'll try and rig up the chrono if I can avoid shooting it!

But it's a very good quality break ::) shows the limbs were nice and evenly stressed. Big split ran right through the handle and pinched my finger!
Shame it never shot through the chrono.... :-[ :'(
Makes me wonder if I over drew slightly, maybe went towards my normal full draw??
Still, at least I got the pics and shot a few arrows.
Gives me an idea of how far to push it next time.
Gotta look on the bright side, at least I don't have to do all that finishing ;) ;D

Just looked at the breaks, the back gave way just inboard of mid limb.
Gotta get me some more Elder now, that bit was a fallen bit I picked up on the cycle track.

Perhaps it's name, "Elder Statesman", was it's downfall as politicians are all about broken promises... ;)

Del, I seem to limit out around 60# on those type bows unless I make them considerably wider which I haven't done yet. Osage might be better wood to try that same design again.

Cheers, yeah, I think I got a bit carried away and greedy, but it was sort of experimental.
I'll have a lot better idea what I'm doing next time (e.g. more than zero  ;) )
Maybe 60 @28" from a slightly longer bow, bit more reflex and a more carefully worked out reflex.
Starting out with a better bit of timber would have helped, I had a good bit of twist, knots and a ridge along the back the cope with.
Mind I blame it all on the FF string  ;) >:D (joke... guys... its a joke....)

Ohh my, I can hear sad bad sound Del.
But as you said a good experiment and I believe its possible. Would be interesting where the crack did start.
My thoughts on string:
FF is a wide range of materials with very different pros and cons.
For me, I'm convinced the BCY 452X is best for wooden bows, because its a mixture of vectran and dynema and still is a bit stretchy with no creep. I never do pure dynema materials for my strings. Just my 2 cents.

Forgot to say, I use 6 strands up to 70pounders, and 4 strands up to 40. when you use more strands, you loose the stretch.

Hi, yeah, the string was 10 strands of Astro Flight... I was just kidding about the string really, I don't think it was a contributory factor. I just hear so many people on another forum talking about FF bing bad for logbows, which is nonsense IMO.
I have a suspicion, I was too busy lining up with the chrono, I might have drawn to 28" ::). Anyhow, I learned a good bit from it, and it's good to try new stuff.
I think the break was about 1/3 to 1/2 way along the limbs out from the grip on the back, looks like they both blew together. It was certainly spectacular!
