tree ID please

Well, big crazy storm came through. Trees down everywhere. Anybody know what this one is? It's the only one I'm not sure of. There's still no leaves on the trees in my neck of the woods. Thanks for the input as always!!

Is it the twigs with the buds and flowers and the bark behind?

red maple? flowers look correct

I was thinking a maple when I saw the flower but the buds don't look like maple and the bark is not red maple.

Looks like an elm to me, American would be my guess, they are one of the first trees to break bud in an area..

That bark doesn't look like the elm we have out west.  But I'm no too familiar with elms.

Thanks fellas!! No leafs make it a little more difficult. So some kind of elm it is. Looks like there's a lot of elm bows in my future. I giant pine fell on top of this tree, and bent it right over, It's still standing, but the top limbs are touching the ground, guess it passed one heck of a bend test

Be real careful cutting that booger. Lots of dangerous tension in it as it is.

Sounds like it is still blooming, if no rush to cut it then let it bloom a while longer and maybe get leaves for identification.

And Pat is correct, those trees under tension are super dangerous.

Are the limbs opposite or alternate? Looks like maple to me.

That's a maple tree of sorts, maybe even white oak. I don't think its elm of any variety.

It looks like a maple to me too. The bark is no elm that I've seen here in Indiana.
