Puukko
« on: April 06, 2014, 09:22:33 pm »
Made this puukko out of 440 stainless brass for the bolster fiber spacing and maple burl the puukko blade is 4 and a half inches long and 7 eights wide and 1 eight thick the handle is 5 inches long and made out of some beautiful maple burl that was thrown away at a lumber mill.I made the handle a little fat so I would not rasp or grind away that beautiful burl I have big hands anyway.Enjoy.

That is awesome.  I have always wanted to make one of those.  You did a fine job.  You going to make a sheath for it?

Beautiful! :o  Personally, I would not have bothered with the spacers, with a handle that nice.  It is amazing what they throw away!

Finnish utility knife.  Smaller than a Leuku ;)
Generally stick tang, no guard, single bevel ("scandinavian grind")  beloved by woodsmen everywhere.

OP, Great job putting it together!  I hope it gets used for decades to come.
