Love it! Rawhide sure does look nice on a bow, and you certainly did this one justice.

Nice lines on that bow Bub! Looks like a shooter.

Bubby, sweet bow first off! I was hoping to pick your brain about the rawhide backing. I'm currently working on a Osage bow that I backed with rawhide. It developed a pretty nasty splinter on the back, so I did what needed to be done. Did you thin the hide once it was already on the bow?  how thin did you go? And what works best to thin it? Thanks

Thanks lefty, I didn't thin it it was pretty thin when I put it on, seems to me you could sand it down of it's real thick, what did you use a dog bone chew

I did use a dog bone. Seems to be working well but it has some thick spots. I've been using medium aggressive files and sand paper. Just didn't know if there was a better method. I really like the stain finish you did. Id like to do something similar.

that stain job is pretty easy, I stained the whole bow and let it dry a while, then get a contrasting dye it can be lighter or darker, and put some on a old bowl or container, put on some gloves and take one off those disposable plastic bags and wad it up in your hand and dip it in the stain, I then dab it on a pc of cardboard a few times, then start dabbing it on the back of the bow till you get the pattern that you want, take a clean rag to wipe up any collateral staining on the edge of the bow, that's how I do it hope this helps, bub
