Small Belt Pouch and Medicine Bag

Made a few small bags from Elk hide this weekend.  Turned out pretty nice.

Any suggestions on how to get better seams and corners working with hide?  The tighter I tried to get the whip stitch, the more funky it looked when turned right-side out.

Very nice looking pouches.... I find that keeping a even tension on your stitching and a straight line will make the seems better.. As for the corners.. when you cut out the pattern you have to notch the corners.. As not to bulk up in the corner when you turn it... Old sewing trick my Mom taught me...

I use a double whip - go all the way around and when you get to the other end turn around and go back. resulting pattern should loo like a line of X's. I also like to round my corners a little when I am cutting them out.

Good advice Ben.. I use the x stitch.. I give a little pull on the leather and try to keep it even tension

Thanks Yosemite, I'll try the double-whip also.  On my next pouch, I want to try an expanding side instead of butting the ends together like these.
