Will DO TRACY,  see you and Ozzy for sure on the 4th.

I sure hope so Pearl, but my luck with this tight ring osage tree might say different,  Although, I do have a few more bows under my belt since I last worked with that tree.  Here is a pic of the end of the stave.

 :o  After looking at the rings again in the pic,  the early to late ratio is not as good as I would like.  The other bows made of this tree was very snappy and hardly any string follow, until they raised a splinter.  :(.

No matter what it will be a learning experience, and it will definitely will not be my last bow. If this sucker fails under the sinew,  I'm giving up on the staves from that tree.  >:(

Ya, we get some of that junky (or at least I think it's junky...give me dark orange and thick rings any day) here in IL. I always back it with rawhide these days, after watching a few pop a splinter that ran right through the limb exploding the bow on the pulley

Lookin' good so far though.

Ive made so many dang osage bows from every kind and variety of osage rings a guy can get, not a dang one broke because of any ring ratio or EG thickness. I say let her rip Bill, those look fine to me.

I agree. Got my favorite type to use but I've made plenty from far less than ideal ring detail. Go for it.

I haven't made loads of osage bows but i've made a few with very thin rings and they have all been fine. The last one I did had very thin rings and I was worried about it all the way to full draw but it's shot 100's of shots and still holds an inch of reflex. Seeing as you are sinewing this I think you will have no problems at all. Make sure to crown the sinew as much as you dare! It saves on dead weight and makes it work more than a flatter back.

I had a little time to get into the shop.................here is a couple update pictures. 

Got it to low braced and it looks like it cutting the middle of the bow just right.
What do you think??

Wow, comparing it to the little recurve I made, it gives me something to shoot for next time.
