i met a very hysterical gentleman while i was at a shoot in Moses Lake, Washington. i was very impressed with his artistry of the craft. though he is not a member of PA i thought i would post a few of his bows :) he makes some off the most beautiful short plains bows and character yew bows. woods ranging from vinemaple to osage.

the first is a sinew backed horn bellied osage bow

when i first met james he handed me this yew bow and asked my to count the rings.... my eyes do not magnify to that measure.

Jims a great guy.He was one of the great secrets of self bowyery for quite a while,till Paul Brunner was taught by him and started spreadin the word bout Jim.

Hes originally a Nevada boy,so of course hes gotta be Great.LOL

Nice bows, is the arrow rest on the 1st one a elk whistler? Ed

yup...hes a heckuva "closet" bowyer....ive seen his stuff in the past around online from others....youd be surprised how many guys are out there making bows that aren't online...I bet they outnumber those who do?  ???

I've seen pics of his work before also, he does 1st rate work. Thanks for posting those Bryce.

According to Paul Brunner, he taught Jim and the student quickly surpassed the teacher. I still have my copy of TB featuring "The birth of a Bowyer".
 Jim sure has  n eye for artistic flair although I don't care for excessively wrapped bows. Makes me wonder if anything is hiding under wraps in the working section. ;)
