Just got a spool of ffp,how many strands should I use for a 65# recurve?I build strings simular to a flemish twist.thx's!

For wood bows (self bows and laminates), most of us use about 12 to 14 strands although you can get by with a lot less and pad the loops and nocking area.  I think 8 strands would be the minimum.

45-55 I use 8 strands.  65 # recurve I'd probably go 10 if it were me.  Maybe 12.

I have one string built up to twelve strands at the end and just four strands between. It's a good string, but I don't plan on doing it again unless I get a request. I have it on a sixty five pound vine maple.

10 strands is plenty, two eight in pc of b-50 in each bundle on each end to pad the loops

I use 12 stands when I make a string out of FF+ and that is more than enough for a hunting weight bow.

I never use more than 8 strands unless it's a 100# plus warbow
