Had a buddy of mine pick up a set of yew billets in Cloverdale and wanted them spliced, Shawn showed up just at the right time,
we jumped on them and had them cut/fitted and glued up in short order, had to work on the saw a bit but other than that things went smooth, always something in the shop,
then Brats for lunch.

Done a little grip work on my bow then shot it about 100 more times, all seemed well and decided to go ahead and skin it with some copper heads I have been saving for a special bow, the Osage was pretty bright so I blacked the back and 1 thin coat of TB3 on it before putting the skins on. I usually do this , it seems to make the pattern stand out better and stay over time.

The skins came out nice, a little dark but pretty cool and should look good in the woods, then back strap for supper and of course a few left over for Miss Joanie, more brownie points
I am trying to pile them up before September.
Hope yall had a good one also. Life is Good.

Thanks Bob,I just use a large magic marker, the very fat tip kind, ya the heat has been bad here for sure, I think it is supposed to cool off a bit this week, down in the high 80's low 90, that's hot but not as bad as it has been.

and also bush hogging getting ready for fall. That's my plan today after my hike, about 20 more acres to do. :)Hope yall had a good 4th. Life is Good.

Those skins look great on that bow, Pappy. I pulled my special set of copperhead skins out of the refrigerator last week to put on a bow and it looked like something had been chewing on them. Made me sick. They were a perfect matching pair. I checked all of my other skins and sprayed them with permethiam. Oh, well. And I wish you could send some of that rain down here, been in the high nineties for two weeks now.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

That's to bad Eddie on the skins, copper heads are hard to come by around here, especially a matched set long enough for a bow. Ya we have had plenty of rain this year and would love to share, but can't.
Love to share the heat also, still trying to hike every day getting ready for CO. It is a challenge even early, really humid and hot.
Just been drinking a ton of water and cooling off when I get back in, trying not to over heat.
