It is a weird thread.  Even with Dacron you can get a normal brace on a 100lb bow.  Over 100lb it's basically impossible but certainly 10" is daft. 

Take some pics of the bow, and the string, both loops and how it looks with the string secure in the bottom nock and pulled tight towards the top nock.
