Here is the method I would like to  try. But cutting a good bow in half makes me very nervous.

Would this method work using sinew and hide glue and maybe rawhide instead of fiberglass?

I would not dare to do that,sinew and rawhide is too sensitive to moisture.
And if that joint slips in full draw the risk is you get whacked from both above and under if you get what i m sayin

I didn't really think so. It just looked like a slick idea and I wondered if there was a primitive way of doing it.

What about a big enough bone, like say a cow leg bone. glue one limb in, then shape the other limbs handle section to fit with a pin or some kind of cut to fit it properly... primitive TD!
