Seeing as you seem to be learning - yew is poor overlay material as it's very soft. Pick hard (er) woods, ideally with interlocking grain.
If you aren't sure what to use in future try asking what other people use for overlays.

The nocks would worry me a little but there is still enough meat on them to file the back flat and add a thicker overlay of horn.

Good point.  I only put them there as decoration.  As the oak was looking a little bland. I haven't filled through them. Do the back of the bow is protected I suppose.

Haha. No only an off cut for overlays.  Im not making a yew bow. Yet.
