Soft maple backed red oak?

Anyone ever done this combo? I'm looking at punching out some low draw (30 lb) or so ELB's.

soft maple aint the best thing to use, cant ya get some hard maple?

Never tried that one,but I think if you went 6' long and 2" at the fades(pyramid) you might be able to pull it off,but I be more apt to build cupboard out of it;).

guess it won't kill you to try, my quess is tons of set unless you seriously over build it, jmho

I can also back with white oak, but I was hoping to reserve the straight grained white oak for real shooters.
