Hickory wampanog and parallel limb hickory w picts.

Here are two bows that are 95% finished. The wampanog bow is copied off of the dimentions I found on the net. It pulls 56@ 28 inches. The other bow is a parallel limbed bow similar to molly but fades are lenghtened from two inches to 3.5 inches. I did this due to charcter of top limb I didn't know if I could get good stability out of it. Simple bows no frills just nice shooters. The wampanog bow is a bit slower but  a really smooth shooter. When shooting my hunting practice arrows it shoots 20 yards shorter distace than the other. The wampanog bow is a gift for my neices husband. I will be usig the other bow to hunt with this fall. Both bows took 1.5 inches of set which is not bad due to no heat box and high humidity of Pennsylvania summers.

I am not sure why but most of the bows turn out that way. The way I shoot and the picts are different. When I shoot I cant the bow a bit which lowers my right elbow and then the bottom doesn't look so weak or top too stiff depending on how ya see it. intrestingly both bows have a 3/4 positive tiller on the bottom limb. Since neither of them have hand shock it must be okay. I go back and forth between fixing the tiller but since they shoot where I look I am scared to change it

Well if they shoot good and no handshock there is no reason to change anything beyond cosmetic and that dont put meat on the table

Love me some hickory...those backs are nice too with the traces of cambium left on. Good job on those Twistedhickory.

I thought of snake skins but the wood itself is nice. I used a mixture of steel wool coffee and vinegar to get the color. It turns the cambium black.

The parallel limbed bow is a bit faster but I too like the wampanog...So much so I am making one for myself so I have a backup hunting bow this fall.  ::)It is a bit wider limbed and is currently 64 lbs at my draw of 27 inches. It took more set though as I tillered it out while it was really humid and don't have access to hotbox. I like how smooth the draw is and it just is easier to shoot

Thanks for the complements guys. Thanks to many of you which helped me figure it out. To think this started as a project to build rather than buy an expensive bow for myself! Lol! Now I like building them as much as shooting them.
