Need to do a stave swap.
« on: August 16, 2013, 10:38:28 pm »
I am down to my last osage stave. It is a nice pipe straight deal cut for about a year now and stored in a hot garage. I will check it for checks but I dont recall any. I need to trade it straight across for another osage stave. I need one very specifically for reproducing the bow portrayed in the movie Brave shot by Merida. I need it to be reflexed in the center section, at least 66 inches long, very little character as this will be a 5 curve, and as little crown as possiable. I dont care if the sap is on or not but it needs to be cured enough to make a bow. I will post pics of my stave in a day or two.

Im good with swapping for elm also.

Just curios, but why Osage if your making a bow like Merida's. Wouldn't  Elm, Hazel or Yew be more appropriate ? Broaden your horizons ,man! ;D

Well damn man, Elm is 3 times wood osage ever could dream of being. And that is one hellova point. Never worked hazel, and nobody will trade stave for stave osage for yew, so Elm it is then. But it must be wych elm. No red elm. The elm I prefere has serrated leaves, and a purple ish heart wood.
