Yup. The deer are long gone. I believe they shot about 250 fawns in the fall of 1983-84? At one time they estimated they had 2500 deer on a 6 x 7-8 mile island, that's never good. They where starved out every winter and the island was severely over browsed. Something had to be done. You can look at the harvest numbers for the last 10 years. Not so overpopulated now.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

I think my friends got like 5 deer tags each. I will see them opening day and ask.

I finally talked to my buddy who hunted out there in the 80's. They got 3 tags each. 6 of them went and they shot 16 deer. The deer were very small.
