I looked it up, and the tree was american elm. I was very impressed at the tought interlocking grain of the wood, it took me a few hours to hammer a blade through to split it.
I have a wedge embedded in a 6" elm log that i cannot budge. I tried a 5 pound sledge.

You could easily get the outer third of both limbs doing a little more work.

Yeaah I could, but i. Think I will just leave it and improve on the design with my next bow :)
