I don't worry about the wardens knowing I am using buzzard feathers. It is real hard for them to tell buzzard feathers apart from the California Condors.  ;D Justin

BigWapiti, all of the feathers mentioned I'm sure will or could work, but be careful in observing your states game laws ???In Illinois our turkey buzzards are protected as part of the falcon family, also even road kill feathers from owls, hawks, ect. may not be used. Its a dirty shame one has to worry about these things, especially if nothing fowl     ( ::) pun intended)    is going on but it's a reality. I use goose and turkey.

Yup.  Pretty much everything in the bird of prey and vulture catagory are protected and or endangered, and you can't possess any portion of the animal.  Check local game laws too.  Something may be endangered locally, but not on the national list.  I grew up in Vermont, and Spruce Grouse are endangered there.  When I moved to Alaska, that was the local species people hunted.  Oh yea, loons are out too.
