Slingshot can kill most small quarries and might be worth a short ponder...

Alot of people on here, including me, would be happy to make you a light recurve.  If I were you, I wouldn't pull over the legal limit.  Here, it's 35 lbs.  I'd suggest a 35 lb sinew backed static recurve.

Not sinew backed beacause you can't hunt in the rain.

Thats not true.

Since when can't you hunt in the rain with a sinew backer?
I don't particularly like to hunt in the rain because it washes away a blood trail...and I may melt.  Not at all though, because my hunting bows are sinew backed.

IMO sinew tends to lose power and stuff when it gets wet.

IMO one needs to have used sinew before one can form an opinion on how it performs when wet.

after accidentally letting some sit in rain for 20 mins or so, I think I can safely say that wet sinew tends to lose power. I realize I have never used it, but IMO for a simple bow, which needs to be durable, I think it would be best not to back it with sinew.

Remember, sinew backing can always be protected with snake skin, which, around here, is rather easy to obtain since garter snakes are everywhere.
