Seasoning juniper advice please

Hey guys,
I happened upon a nice juniper limb and was able to harvest it. I have shellac'd both ends and the portion where the bark was accidentally removed. Am I better off leaving it whole and bark on or should I split it, remove the bark and seal the backs?

I'd suggest that you split it and send a stave to me! 

seems like it's always a good idea to at least split in half. otherwise there's that chance of the
log developing some deep checks.

Split it for sure it will dry alot faster I'd take the bark off and seal it

Howdy,  Definitely split and debark.   With the ends sealed, I've never had problems just throwing the split/ debarked staves up in the garage rafters.   If you have any worries, go ahead and coat the backs with some shellac.      Ron

Mike I would recommend kerfing before you split.  I haven't used that kind of juniper, but some have a tendency to split poorly. I would definitely remove the bark and seal it as well.  Josh

That juniper is probably the same as what I use seeing as how your from Vegas. I would do what gun doc suggested and kerf it before you split. It doesn't like to split straight, I usually just cut it out and skip splitting completely. After that seal the ends and you should be good.
