Fletching Adhesive for Cane?
« on: April 11, 2013, 12:35:01 pm »
Usually I wrap a feather on cane, but this time I'm wanting to glue some on.  I have had glue fail on cane in the past, I guess it doesn't adhear to well to the smooth surface, I used gorilla super glue or Duco that time, I don't remember.  I also dont scrap the outer skin off.  Any ideas of a glue that I can use on cane that will hold w/o wrapping, or is that a pipe dream?

Thanks for your replys, See ya in Tennesee!!  dpg

What type of Saunders are you using?  They make several kinds.

Not sure what you have around you Matt, but the Gndr. Mtn. used to carry it around here.

Loctite super glue. I've used it on my last 3 sets of target arrows and have never had a feather come off or even start to come off.

Other glues should work with a light sanding to get through the rind.

I've had the same experience as killer duck.  I just made a half dozen shoot arrows and been shooting them through hay bails and bushes and not a one even shows ware.  I tied them on too however so can't credit the glue for everything.  I have some cane but haven't made them up yet.  I'll let you know how it work on these.

I currently use a cyanoacrylate product with an accelerator.  It is necessary to hit the glue surface with 220 grit prior to gluing though.  It works very well for me and is fast.
