How to bowstring

I'm sure thus is an old topic, but how do you figure out the length of your bowstring? Can you give me a thread to read!! Thanks Carter

take the length of your bow, shorten it by a few inches. I usually use 4 inches on a longer bow, around 2-3 on a short one(40-50 inches).
That works for longbows.....
I am not sure about other bows.

this is what i do, i take my bows length and add 10 inches then make the bowstring. It depends a bit. but in general thats the idea that i go for.

So i assume it shortens when you twist it?
That is more like a tillering string

when i start to make a bowstring from B-50, with the first strand i use the length of the bow plus a half ,then cut them all the same length.
I usually do a three ply twist, but two ply is definitely easier to start with.
