Looks like an interesting design. Do you have any braced or drawn photos?

LOL. That deep shelf was the reason for the build...  Now to see how it holds!
Here are a few more pics..  This is the longest string i have right now so it is braced at 8"...

I want to preface this by saying, If your bow shoots and you are happy, then go have fun. That being said, those tips are very wide and you could reduce them by half and still be very strong and safe. After saying that, my hunting bow has 1/2 wide tips, and that is very wide...

Well, Your string is too short, keeping your bow braced that high will cause more set over time. I just fixed a bow for a lady that got on a really high brace kick and had the lower limb start forming a hinge.  Heat, a caul and a longer bow string fixed the problem.

Your grip/rest is what we would call "experimental", may hold up,  may not, several inches for a small diameter arrow shaft to pass through and almost no room for your hand.

I bet you shoot a laminated recurve. We almost always transfer out recurve mentality to our first selfbow, I did and made a working recurve with a cutout sight window on my first shooter osage bow. My bow broke in the sight window, every bow I have made since(150+) has a conventional longbow grip.

Don't know if you have a tillering gizmo or not. Looks like your top limb bends a lot just out of the fade and is pretty straight  from there to the tip. Could be just the way the picture was taken that creates the illusion of a hingy place, hard to tell for sure from the picture, the bottom limb looks good.

Congratulations, that is fantastic for your first bow!  really.  Here is some feedback for future efforts: The finish looks really rough.  I'd buy a shave, or use a knife and do the final tillering with that to give a very smooth appearance.  Then end with progressively finer grains of sand paper for a silky smooth finish; I use (80, 120, 320, 600).  Not sure how you check the tiller but make a tiller stick if you don't have one and take it slow and check for an even bend on both sides. Look at many full draw pics on this sight to get an idea of what it should look like.  You can keep it drawn in the tiller stick and run a 5 inch board along to bottom and look how the gap changes.  Ideally it will be even along the working limb.  hope that helps some.  Great work on #1!
Thanks,

looks good, but that arrow shelf is worrying me, same goes for the high brace hieght. I shoot a laminated recurve not infrequently, 50#@28"

That's a unique experimental design. Thank you for entering her in March BOM contest!

I'm new to this as well, so won't give any advice, just wanted to say cool looking bow and ask how you did the "antler" paint job.
