self,backed bows,wich is fastest?

Good point Jawges, I was think more on the lines of boo or wood backing.

Good points by all.For me sinew as a backing does things that other backings are incapable of doing.Just unbraced profile after shooting of either self or backed bows determine arrow speed assuming it is properly tillered and mass being taken and left where it should be because just getting a bow to store energy is one thng but to convey that energy to the arrow efficiently is another.

À few fps one way or another doesn't matter to me as much as how well it shoots overall...and since 98% of us(if that)don't live in an all else equally world it really doesn't matter... but i do know for sure some of my selfbows are faster than some guys backed bows(like Roy Painters)

Depends on the backing some backings are intended to enhance performance and some are just to hold the bow togeather clothe like backings like silk and linen will not add speed they will take speed away but at the same time making your bow more durable while bamboo fiberglass certain wood backings can add some speed to your bow and make it more durable

But to me speed isn't important as long as the bow isn't ridiculously slow
