Best source for Bone for arrowheads
« on: March 07, 2013, 01:26:37 pm »
So, I suck at flint knapping and I'm not patient enough nor do I have enough stone to bceome very profecient.

Thus, I'd like to try out some bone points. I've got some wood working expiereince from bow and arrow shaft making so I figure bone is worked similarly, its just harder and more dangerous to inhale.  :)

Thus, I am looking for a good source for bone for arrowheads. Any suggestions?

Go to a local butcher.  They may give you bones for free.

Depending on the amount of work or $ you want to put into it.

1) road kill deer - free. keep a knife and trash bag in the trunk and cut off the fore leggs (and sinews) when you see them.  the strip it down to bone, bleach it dry it and use it.

2) Pet shop cow bones.

3) Moscow hide and Furr... buy what ever bone you want dried and bleached and ready to go from almost any animal you want.
