Does anyone have plans for a sit down bowyers bench?
« on: November 01, 2007, 04:54:47 pm »
I have seen a couple photos that have a sit down bench with what looks like s lever that holds the stave in place and also look mobile enough to take places. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and if so does anyone know where I can get either drawings or close ups so I can copy one for myself.

Hi this is the plan to the bowyers bench that I made, the only thing I changed was the length of the bench. I made it longer because I wanted to make an English long bow. If you cannot read it as a PDF file I can try a different format. ;D

Thanks, just when I was going to ask what others use to hold the bow when working on it.

Currently i am Using a pony clamp  ( a vise on a bar that has a lower brace that slides on the pole, and a hand crank on the top, not a very good description, i know :) ) I works great, and is increadibly strong, i pad all of the contact regions to keep from damaging the wood.   Ty
