perry reflex question
« on: February 11, 2013, 08:15:27 pm »
Is there a thickness limit on the backing for a perry reflex?  At some point is the backing too thin to hold reflex?

I never go more than 1/8" thick on any hard backing, no matter the species. The glue holds the reflex, not the backing.

Thanks for the clarification pearly, glad to hear that.  Was cutting some backing strips today and accidentally planed one to 3/32" and was afraid it would not work.

I start at an 1/8" and by the time I round the edges nice and smooth it down Its closer to 3/16", right where I like it. The key is perfect glue lines.

I've been around wood working my whole life and never met anyone who can add wood by sanding ;). No wonder you make such beautiful bows :)

Thanks again for the help :)
