should I be worried

I did my first snake skin backed bow, sealed it, wrapped some leather around the handle, and braced it. felt like it had dropped 8lbs or so, unstrung it and it had  lost like an inch and a half of reflex. I figured that the sinew had sucked up the moisture in the skins. right now it's reverse strung think I'll leave it like that for a week or so. any ways will it snap back to like it was before or did I partially ruin one of my best bows?

I've had that happen with rawhide backings. After a week she'll be back to her old self.

How soon did you seal it and shoot it after you applied the skins?

That  might be your problem.

You sealed it already?  You should remove the finish from the belly and let it dry well before re-sealing it or straining it. Holding the moisture can cause rot.

lesson learned, how long would I let it dry?

scraped off the finish it's now sitting in a room with a fan blowing along its length.

I would give it a week or so in dry environment.

before checking here, I strung it again and drew it (could hurt it ore than i did before) feels like it's already gained half the poundage it dropped and back up to the original reflex you should see this bow posted in the next two weeks
