If you are going to collect snakes, Live or Dead, it's best to know the Laws and Regs in your state. There are eleven species of snakes listed as Threatened here in Texas.
Unlawful to posses any part live or dead, without special permit.

There is also a Black List.
Black Listed Species can be in possession but not sold or transferred.
