Short lived experiment lol "success"
« on: December 27, 2012, 09:41:44 pm »
Well since it is raining outside i decided to make my three year old a pvc bow to play with hehe it turned out great till i turned my back for a second and my 5 year old grabbed it and overdrew it SNAP. Nothing can explain  the feeling i felt when i saw Bayleigh's eyes start to well up :( she didnt even get to shoot it yet. I guess Starleigh learned a lesson on drawing other peoples bows real fast haha i didnt have to say anything to her she felt so bad for doing it. Good thing it was just a PVC bow and not a wooden one. After the eyes dried up i explained to Starleigh about treating others stuff and told Bayleigh il make her another ;) so tomorrow il make her another and Starleigh a larger one. Anywho here are the pics of the bow before it broke

It turned out a little asymmetrical and it broke on the weaker side  to i know what happond i just over heated the spot where it broke hopefully the next one will be better i used a heat gun on this one which was slow and i couldn't heat large areas just small one it would cool  to fast tomarrow im going to use a small propane single burner stove it should make a larger heating area

I think it wasnt to bad of a bow first first time making a PVC  recurve i will say it totally different then a wood bow lol well tomarrow il post pics of the others

Search the backyardboywer on youtube. His PVC bows are masterful. I think he was getting 175 fps out of one of them. He just posted a really sweet horse bow with laminated in wood siyahs.

He's even made snaky PVC bows.

 8) Like em, and way to save the day too.

One of my Buddies kids is supposed to come over and do some archery stuff for the day and I was wanting to try to make a pvc bow w/ him.  I was going to try the long bow style with two peices of pvc, one inserted into the other for a thicker wall diameter.  Long bow style.
