well, i have been working up to it for about 2 years, give or take a few months. in that time, i have worked my way up through progressively heavier draw weights, becoming comfortable shooting each one before going to the next. its taken a good long time, and a few pulled muscles, but i can comfortably shoot this bow now :)

Howdy and excellent job!   I'm surprised you got so little set on a relatively short bow.   In addition it looks to me like the handle section slightly flatter than the limbs.   Not a bad point, just saying that the limbs are holding well to great stress!   
For those who haven't tried shooting heavy bows, I found it easier than expected, but training and technique is important.    Ron

thank you! and yes the handle is slightly flatter. i left it more rectangular and less trapped than the rest of the bow.

so i made some braided leather for the handle today, now i just need to find some horn or antler for the knocks
