Moth proofing arrows/feather?

What do you use for protecting feathers from moths? Aromatic cedar and mothballs occur to me, but looking for experience and results.

A plastic tube with a cap on the end seals out everything Shaun.

Sealed ziplock bag.

I spray them with Permanome and put them in a zip lock bag or keep them in a plastic bag in the freezer.

I have some large ammo boxes,I just layer them in them and fog with Permanome as I add to the pile. Never had a problem. Any of the above will work,Just be sure and spray first,sometimes the mites are already on the feather and you ant sealing them out ,you are sealing them in.

I should add that when I collect goose feathers I first put them in the freezer with 3-4 moth balls inside of a ziplock bag for 4-5 days.  After that I sit them in the sun for another 3-4 days.  I then store them sealed in ziplock bags.  So far this has worked well.

Besides a tote full of feathers I have a couple dozen old cardboard boxes of dozen arrows. Spray permanome for boxed arrows too? I was hoping for something a little more green but will use permanone if that is the way to go.

I also spray my Rio Grande turkey mount in my office with it. It won't hurt the arrows to do it.

How about a plastic Tupperware box, Shaun? Or a mason jar with a sealed lid?

One of the best, if not the best thing that I have used over the years storing large quantities of feathers, is go and get some cedar bedding like used for your dog beds.  Put your feathers in what ever container you like and sprinkle liberal amounts of the begging in the container.  Same principle that the elders used to do by putting their wool and things in cedar chest.

I also went and got a bottle of spray used to spray down bird cages for mites.  Pump a few sprays of that in the container as well, and never lost any feathers.
