Congratulations to Mark Smeltzer of Placerville, CA
His Osage Bow is September Bow of the Month
[/size]
Here's how Mark made this fine weapon:
"I just wanted to show a couple of pictures of my latest bow. This one is an Osage Selfbow, 59"NTN, 53lbs@27" with cow hoof overlays on the tips and a cordage wraped handle. I used dry heat on the tips, tried to put just enough reflex in the tips to help keep the string secure.
The hoof is great material to work for overlays, it is pretty easy to get a good transition from the tip to the limb.
A while back I started using the digital camera for checking the last few inches/lbs of tiller, it really shows where the wood needs to come off." -Mark
Here's only a sample of the praise Mark received for his bow:"wow thats awesome" -jamie
"Great looking bow. That is an incredible transition between the wood and the hoof is incredible." - Justin
"Looks great!! Tiller is right on, cow horn overlays are beautiful, and she shines" - cowboy
