Back in the 50's and 60's it was common for folks to store their recurves with the string backwards like that. I've seen it a lot in the past but dont recall anybody saying the reason. Just my past experience though

on a recurve it doesn't hurt it.the string is long enough.if you try to pull it,the string will pop off.it looks bad,but the bow is not being hurt.
