Other than the way they are made, how are they different? What benefit does a flemish string have over a continuous knot?

strings take the most strain at the loop. a flemish string has more fibers woven into the loop, strengthening it. An endless string has the same ammount of fibers at the loop as it does on the rest of the string- therefore if you make the loop of an endless string strong enough, the other parts are "overbuilt". So, a flemish string is lighter for a given loop strength. lighter string = faster arrow.

Thank you, I'm not good at making strings so I wanted to get a better idea of what string to buy. The reverse twist I made came out pretty sloppy.

The material used to make the string makes a massive difference. This probably has more of an impact than whether it is a flemish twist or endless loop string.
