Where are you in the state?  Know any examples you've seen growing locally you could tell us?

Just saying Wy covers quite a wide variety ecosystems from high desert to dense timber.  Not knowing  what particular area you live in, I will give a brief rundown of what I have seen.  Junipers, elms, black locust, choke cherry, Russian olive, and more Russian olive.  That's not a complete list by any means, just what ive seen while passing through.  Josh

With all the snow breaks and old corral, and fence line post, I'd think you should find a lot of osage and other hard woods.

I doubt they ever shipped osage to Wyoming to build snow fence.  If I am wrong, I know several miles of snow fence in western SoDak that will soon be under midnite raid attacks!

You also have green ash that can make decent bows.  Look specifically for hackberry, too.

I lived in Montana most of my life and built hundreds of bows out of mountain maple. Just head for the hills, find a stream follow it and you'll find it. It's a lot like vine maple and makes a great bow! I prefer it over most other wood. The biggest problem with the stuff is most of the staves spiral when you split them, find a good one though and it's hard to beat! Good Luck!    Dale
