Go to flea markets and yard sales .You can pick up lots of low budget tools. Experiment with them and you will find what works best for you. And ask lots of questions.Wood is easy to find. you never know what someone will give ya
Good luck.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body. But rather to slide in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW WHAT A RIDE!!

Thanks Nugget, that's a good idea! I always liked going to flea markets before, and now I actually have a reason to as opposed to just another place to spend money I don't have!

Welcome, I don't think I can add anything to the suggestions given earlier, except that I love using a drawknife. I could go from stave to bow with one. A good one, though.

What would be your idea of a good drawknife, 1.5 Primitive? I'm all ears at people's preferences for using certain tools. Gives me a good idea what tools would be down my alley.
