New Guy
« on: July 26, 2012, 08:06:23 pm »
Well I'm the new guy.  I'm James Hicks from Texas.  I met some of y'all at twin oaks last weekend and was referred to this sight by Will.  I love self bows and am trying to learn knapping.  I live in the Huntsville area if anyone is close for shooting / knapping.  Anyway just wanted to say hello.

Welcome!  I'm on the northeast side of Dallas, close to 4 hours north of you.  If you ever head up my way, be sure to stop by.  You wouldn't be related to a Tim Hicks from up this way would you?

That'd be great.  Garland is pretty close to me. If you need bow wood I'll send you home with a stave. If you'd like more than 1 there are osage logs in my driveway that still need split. I've been too lazy lately and you can have what you split.

Nobody stays new for long.  Stand up and take your lumps like the rest of us!

Best way to make friends?  Post some pics of your work!  Or start sending staves out to people .... I'll send you my address in a private message!
