Back in the game
« on: April 07, 2012, 11:04:11 pm »
Hello all,
After quite a few years off,I have finally gotten back into primitive archery. I never knew how much I missed it until I loosed the first arrow from a brand new bow. It is red oak, from a board. 72"ttt, 70"ntn, stained and finished with tru-oil. The string is my first attempt at a flemish twist.  Hope you all enjoy.

It looks pretty good.  If you don't mind me asking, what is the width and thicknesses?

Glad to have you back! You sound like me....after being out of it for about 15 years, I found my way back and wondered why I ever left.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

It is from a 3/4 board, 1 1/2 inches wide to 12" from the tips, and tapers to 5/8 ate the tips.  Just under 1/2 inch at midlimb.  Thanks for the compliments guys.

"you can come back, baby, rock-n-roll never forgets!"  Wood bows are just as forgiving, maybe even more so.

Welcome back to the fold!

Thanks for all the kind words guys.  She draws a sweet 46# at 26".  Spent the weekend putting a handle on and shooting.  I love these long bows.
